Thanks to our Corporate Member & Silver Sponsor KBC Bank, we are able to share the insightful KBC Economic Perspectives – Asia Edition with you.
Here some highlights from the most recent edition:
- Recent data suggests that global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic is underway due to positive developments on the virus and vaccination front. However, there is concern over vaccine shortages and increasingly contagious variants;
- The Chinese economy grew 7.9% year-on-year in Q2 2021, exceeding expectations. Trade elsewhere in Asia reports steady growth due to the ongoing global recovery;
- In the European Union, initial reports highlighted that recovery had become somewhat stagnant, however, May and June saw steady momentum build. It is expected that further momentum will be gained in the remainder of 2021;
- Short-term inflationary pressures have strengthened in recent months, causing an increase in producer prices in both the United States and China. It is expected that these pressures will gradually ease and not lead to spiralling inflation.
